Sunday, Sept. 28th, Brose Partington installed his latest kinetic work on the Monon Trail in Indianapolis,IN. After months of construction and years of planning with the City of Indianapolis, this new sculpture is now available for everyone to see and try. It's located just behind the Indianapolis Art Center next to the boat ramp.The full photo is here.
Artist Statement:
“I'm currently building structures as parallels to patterns of natural occurrences. My work examines the subtle movements around us, and the patterns those movements create. I am trying to compare the cyclical patterns found in nature with manufactured objects, environments, and modes of transportation."

Established in 1971, the Broad Ripple Art Fair brings together more than 225 artists from the U.S. and Canada, booths from local cultural organizations, a children’s creative area, gourmet food courts, a beer and wine garden and live entertainment on four stages. The Art Fair takes place in ARTSPARK on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center annually each May. All proceeds from the Art Fair directly benefit Art Center programs.
Soyong Partington is to speak at "Live Canvas - The World of Art and History" Conversations About Art on Friday, April 25th from 6-8pm.Soyong studied graphic design under the famous fabric designer Jong Hwa Park and sculptor Jong Myung at Sook Myung Women's University in Seoul, Korea. She was told by her parents to study graphic design in college and not ceramics because they believed that there were too many potters in Korea. Years later Soyong finally gave into her desire to learn ceramics and started taking ceramic classes at t he Indianapolis Art Center. She participates in the Broad Ripple Art Fair and has frequent one-woman shows at various galleries throughout the Midwest.
Soyong is the head of ceramics department at the Sullivan Munce Cultural Center and teaches the popular ceramics and youth camps there. Her art is shown at well-known local galleries and her art work and jewelry is for sale at the Sullivan Munce Cultural Center Boutique.

Brose Partington will be showing a sculpture at the 2007 Primary Colours Toys event. This year’s art showcase will take place at Gallery No. 2 at the Harrison Center for the Arts (1505 North Delaware St., Indianapolis) on December 7, 2007 from 5 to 10 p.m. Toys exhibits art fashioned around the theme of toys, and invited artists are free to interpret the theme as they see fit.

The Indianapolis Art Center's Outreach Department began providing Day of the Dead programming in 2000 as a response to the growing Hispanic and Latino populations in Indianapolis.
