Broad Ripple Art Fair 2008

The 38th Broad Ripple Art Fair will take place May 17 and 18, 2008.
Check out the Partington booth at numbers #12 & 13.
Soyong will be there will all her new ceramic art.

Established in 1971, the Broad Ripple Art Fair brings together more than 225 artists from the U.S. and Canada, booths from local cultural organizations, a children’s creative area, gourmet food courts, a beer and wine garden and live entertainment on four stages. The Art Fair takes place in ARTSPARK on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center annually each May. All proceeds from the Art Fair directly benefit Art Center programs.

Soyong to speak at "Live Canvas"

Soyong Partington is to speak at "Live Canvas - The World of Art and History" Conversations About Art on Friday, April 25th from 6-8pm.

Soyong studied graphic design under the famous fabric designer Jong Hwa Park and sculptor Jong Myung at Sook Myung Women's University in Seoul, Korea. She was told by her parents to study graphic design in college and not ceramics because they believed that there were too many potters in Korea. Years later Soyong finally gave into her desire to learn ceramics and started taking ceramic classes at t he Indianapolis Art Center. She participates in the Broad Ripple Art Fair and has frequent one-woman shows at various galleries throughout the Midwest.

Soyong is the head of ceramics department at the Sullivan Munce Cultural Center and teaches the popular ceramics and youth camps there. Her art is shown at well-known local galleries and her art work and jewelry is for sale at the Sullivan Munce Cultural Center Boutique.

"Trophy" - Partington and Darr

"Trophy" - the collaborative installation by Brose Partington and James Darr, was held on Friday April 4th, 2008 at the corner of  State Ave. and English Ave. in Indianapolis, IN, USA. Several hundred art enthusiasts came to view this new kinetic sculpture installation. Photos of the "Trophy" event are posted here.

Frozen in Grand Central Station

This is an artistic prank on a "grand" scale. Over 200 people gathered at Grand Central Station in New York to pull off a "frozen in place" act.  The onlooking travelers who weren't part of the act were confused and wondered what the heck was going on!

Brose at Toys 2007

www.primarycolours.orgBrose Partington will be showing a sculpture at the 2007 Primary Colours Toys event.  This year’s art showcase will take place at Gallery No. 2 at the Harrison Center for the Arts (1505 North Delaware St., Indianapolis) on December 7, 2007 from 5 to 10 p.m. Toys exhibits art fashioned around the theme of toys, and invited artists are free to interpret the theme as they see fit.

El Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead

The Indianapolis Art Center invites families to celebrate the festival of Day of the Dead. This year's celebration will be on Saturday, October 27, from 3--8 pm with activities taking place throughout the months of October and November.

The Indianapolis Art Center's Outreach Department began providing Day of the Dead programming in 2000 as a response to the growing Hispanic and Latino populations in Indianapolis. Through the years the Art Center has found Day of the Dead programming to expand and bridge all communities because of a common experience shared among all people: death. [ MORE]

Bully Art Unveiled

Local muralist, Alex Edgecombe (and his adopted pit bull, Dia) will be painting an original art piece to be unveiled at the 2nd Annual Bully March on Indianapolis Monument Circle - Sat October 27th, 2007  The piece will be raffled off with the proceeds benefiting Indy Pit Crew and Casa del Toro Bully Breed Rescue.  $1 tickets for the raffle will be available the day of the Bully March.  The winning name will be drawn and announced on November 16, 2007. Griff makes Box[UR]Shorts

Any Way the movie.Griff's film "Any Way" makes it into the  Summer Box[UR]Shorts International Film Festival.

You can view and vote "Thumbs Up" for his film [here] or check out the larger movie player on his web site [here].

"Any Way" won "Best Alternative Film" and overall "Best of Festival" in the annual Frog Baby Film Festival at Ball State University on April 28th 2007. Sixteen student films were shown in the categories of Narrative, Alternative, Documentary and Experimental Film.
